NM Nayar took his Bachelor
Honours and Master's from Delhi University and IARI New
Delhi, and his Phd in Plant Breeding and Botany from the
LSU Baton Rouge, LA, USA. He worked in the Indian Council
of Agricultural Research, Government of India as
Geneticist, Joint Director and then, as Director for 17
years of various institutes, and in all for over 4
decades. He is now working as Emeritus Professor in Botany,
Kerala University, Trivandrum. His current areas of
research are Crop Plants Evolutio and Biodiversity. He has
authored/edited 7 volumes and over 150 papers. He is
currently a member of the Editorial Board of Genetic
Resources and Crop Evolution.
