Dr. Samir El-Agamy graduated in horticultures, 1966,and gained his Ph.D Horticultures with the University of Florida, 1979. He is director of genetic engineering center, Assiut University since 1999.

Dr El-Agamy was visiting professor with the University of Florida in the period 1980-1983, King Abdulaziz University, saudi arabia from 1987 to 1993, and Molecular laboratory, Wageningen in 1988. He received several awards, the latest was DAAD award. Dr El-Agamy has published 78 peer reviewed articles and supervised 20 Ph.D students. He is Chair Professor of the National Egyptian Council of Horticulture, and Chairman of Mango group USDA-Egypt since 1998.
